From 1964
to Today
Founded by the vision of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and supported by the Japanese government, Tema Technical Institute began in 1964 with just 22 students — meeting Ghana's growing demand for skilled technical manpower in the textile manufacturing industry.
Located in Tema's High Industrial Area, Community 7, the school now serves 3,735 students with 161 staff members — 121 teaching and 40 non-teaching — delivering 20 programs through traditional dual TVET and Competency Based Training (CBT) models. The institute trains students in various certificate programmes ranging from national proficiency I to national certificate II, as well as those pursuing lifelong learning through informal training.
Award-winning in academics and sports competition — including the Renewable Energy Challenge, Tema Executives Lions Club Plastic Waste Recycling, and CTVET Best Final Examination Score award — TTI continues to define technical excellence in West Africa.
